Since my last post, a lot has happened on my journey to improve as a Photographer. I've not only invested in myself with some gear, but also with my education. Ever since I left Design School 6 years ago, I've had this unprecedented thirst for knowledge. Books, blogs, videos, talking to other creative professionals... I can't spend enough hours in the day trying to get better at the things that inspire me. I would love nothing more than to create the rest of my life, but strictly on my terms and time. Creating art was never what I had in mind as a career, but as life is unexpected, I was steered into the life of extreme highs and the lowest lows as an artist.
Over the past few months, I've really made it my purpose to reach out to as many other creative people in style, fashion, food, lifestyle and offer them my time as a photographer. Photo is one of those areas of creative that some will value and others will not. The most inspirational times for me are when I'm on a shoot with a subject and things aren't going as planned. The light is wrong, the location isn't what we expected, I'm not fluid with what settings I want to shoot at... and then something great happens. In an instant, there's softer light. We walk around the corner and there is the perfect backdrop. In my head, I know what settings will work and the photos are exposed perfectly. Photography has a funny way of picking you back up when you feel like you're a tourist walking around a foreign city with a disposable camera. Its an intoxicating feeling I haven't grown tired of. Below are some of my recent projects that I've been working on. Thanks to all the people who have reached out and have worked together and for anyone else who wants to work together in the future, don't hesitate to email or call.
I've also started my very own journey on being on the other side of the camera that is both stressful and freeing. I spend most of my time preparing the shoots with styling and locations so my vision of what I want it to look will be perfect. It take a lot of time and patience, especially by a fellow photographer who is willing to travel for the shoots. Luckily, I've crafted some great friendships with people who are as passionate as me in photography and are willing to sacrifice their time to help. I'm forever grateful for people like CHRISTIAN HERNANDEZ, for shooting me.
